Notice periods under FIDIC contracts: a checklist for site teams
The consequences of missing claim notice deadlines and a simple tracking method to avoid it.

The 2017 FIDIC suite provides a 28-day notice period for contractor claims, running from when the contractor became or should have become aware of the event. Missing it is a serious risk that may bar the claim.
Practical steps on site
Keep a one-line record for each event: date, brief description, relevant clause, notice deadline and responsible person. Add a review of this table to the weekly site meeting agenda.
Particular Conditions may have changed the periods, so the checklist should be rebuilt from the contract itself on each project.
